Kayaking Organisations in New Zealand

Whitewater NZ, formally the NZ Recreational Canoeing Association is the national organisation for paddle sports in New Zealand.

Canterbury Whitewater Club Christchurch based club for all those who enjoy whitewater, no matter what craft they choose to paddle.

Canoe Slalom NZ National organisation for kayak / canoe slalom in New Zealand.

New Zealand Kayak School Based in Murchison, the NZ Kayak School runs highly regarded residential whitewater kayak courses for beginner, intermediate and advanced boaters. If you are an experienced boater looking for help in planning your New Zealand paddling trip, they can also provide information, kayak and gear rental , and even professional guides.

Biosecurity NZ for information on Didymo and other threats to NZ waterways etc.

Forest & Bird is New Zealand’s leading independent conservation organisation — protecting wildlife and wild places, on land and in the sea.

Choose Clean Water A campaign to keep New Zealand rivers and lakes, healthy and clean.

Land, Air, Water Aotearoa (LAWA) allows access to scientific data and information on New Zealand’s natural environment. This is a great resource for accessing water quality data and finding safe swimming / kayaking spots.

Long Cloud Kayaks / FutherFaster A kayak and outdoor gear store located at 57A Buchan Street, Sydenham, Christchurch, also with an extensive online store.

Paddlerzone is a Christchurch based kayak shop and caters for all your kayaking needs. Located at 311 Blenheim Road, Christchurch and have an online store as well. Offers discounts to CWWC and other club members.

Blue Duck Packrafting, quality packrafts, designed in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

Top Sport Kayaking  formerly a Christchurch based kayak shop, the physical store closed after the 2011 February 22nd earthquake, but they still offer grade 2 certificates, training courses & river trips via their website.

Canterbury Kayaking is Christchurch’s professional multisport and whitewater kayak school. They believe all New Zealand kayakers should have access to world class kayak instruction, top quality equipment, and genuine customer service.

Waka Kayaks New Zealand based kayak company, makes some great boats.

Bliss Stick Kayaks Was a popular NZ kayak manufacturer, makers of my much loved Blitz, but is now sadly no more.
